On the Desktop, double click the My Computer icon.

Double click the Dial-Up Networking folder.

Right click the desired connection and select
Properties from the menu.

The following window appears:
Select the General tab.
Phone number:
Uncheck the option Use area code and Dialing Properties.
Area code = This should be grayed out.
Telephone number = Verify the Access number you use to connect to the Internet. This is provided by your Internet service provider. Enter any other numbers necessary to connect. For example, if you have 10-digit dialing in your area, enter the area code along with the phone number. If you have Call Waiting and would like to disable it while you're on the Internet, enter "*70," before the access number, i.e., *70,3125555555. If you're in a hotel and need to dial a "9," to get an outside line, enter it as well.
Country code = This should be grayed out.

Change the Phone number to the new number if it is different.
Click the OK button
You are now finished.
