To edit an existing connection, do the following:

Click Start, then Settings, then Dial-Up Networking, as shown below.

The Dial-Up Networking window appears.
Right click the connection and select Properties from the menu.

The following window opens:
Select the General tab.
Phone number:
    Telephone number = Verify the telephone number is the correct number provided by your Internet service provider.    
Uncheck the box Use area code and Dialing Properties.
Connect using:
    Select the modem from the drop-down list. There should only be one listed.    
    Click the Configure button.

Change the Phone number to the new number if it is different.
Click the OK button
You are now finished.
