1. Click on Start
2. Go to Settings
3. Click on Dial-Up Networking.
4. Double Click on Make New Connection.
5. In the white box under "Type a name for the computer you are dialing" type in OWC and click Next at the bottom.
6. Type in the phone number provided to you on the account sheet in the "Suggested Dial-in number" box and click next.
7. Click Finish.
8. You will see the OWC icon now on the screen. With your Right mouse button click on it. Then select properties and click.
9. Click on the Networking Tab.
10. You should have the following things marked on this screen:
- PPP: Internet, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME
- Enable Software Compression checked under advanced options
- TCP/IP checked under allowed Network Protocols
11. Click on the TCP/IP settings button on the right.
12. Change the second option to "Server assigned name server addresses. "
13. Make sure the "Use IP header compression" and "Use default gateway on remote network " are checked.
14. Click OK
15. Click on the Security tab.
16. Fill in your username and password you provided when you signed up. Make sure the Caps lock key is not on and that you put them in lower case.
17. Leave the rest of the boxes unchecked.
18. Click on the Dialing Tab.
19. Make sure that "This is the default Internet connection" is checked and the dot is in "Always dial my default connection".
20. Click OK at the bottom.
21. Using your right mouse button click on the OWC icon.
22. Click on Create Shortcut.
23. When it asks if you would like to place the shortcut on the desktop click on yes.
24. Click on the Start button
25. Go up to Settings.
26. Click on Control Panel.
27. Double click on Network.
28. In Configuration, click on TCP/IP or it might say TCP/IP Dial-Up Adaptor. Click on Properties.
29. Click on DNS Configuration tab.
30. Make sure the information is in place:
- The black dot should be in front of Disable DNS
31. Click OK at the bottom.
32. Click OK again and restart the computer.
33. To connect once the computer is restarted, double click your shortcut to OWC icon on the desktop.
34. The save password box can be left unchecked if you wish to type your password in every time you dial.
35. Click on Connect
36. To tell if you're connected, look at the lower right hand corner near your clock and you will see the two computer monitor symbol.
37. Now open up your Internet Explorer or Netscape by double clicking on the icon on the desktop.
38. From there you can surf the web at your leisure.
39. When you are ready to get off the internet double click the two computer icon by your clock.
40. When the Connected to OWC box appears click on Disconnect.
